Background
Musicalyouth was set up in May 1992 as an outlet for the talent of local youngsters in East Lothian. Our first "Showtime" Concert - a songs from the shows extravaganza - took to the stage at Prestonpans Community Centre in November 1992. This was a great success and Musical Youth went on to produce their first full length musical, "Calamity Jane" in June 1993.
Many parents and friends saw the fun the young people were having and wanted to join in so Encore was formed. Their first musical, "Brigadoon" was performed in the Brunton theatre in May 1994.
Both Groups have continued successfully producing exciting, lively and colouorful shows such as "Copacabana", "Oklahoma", "Oliver", "Annie", and "Guys & Dolls" to name but a few. They also support the community by helping raise funds for charities, perform to the elderly and residents of Leuchie House in North Berwick.
To Join Musical Youth :-
You need to be between 8 and 17 years old and have an interest in drama and singing . Musical Youth meets every Monday evening during term-time from 7 - 8:45pm . We generally audition once a year for new members, usually at the beginning of June.
To Join Encore :-
Encore is open to any adult aged 16 years and above and meets on a Wednesday evening from 7 - 9pm.
